WASHINGTONAug. 29, 2021Senmer — David Byrd, a Senior Principal at Korn Ferry and former National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) was named a Man of Power and Influence by the Global Conscious Initiative.

Mr. Byrd’s recognition as a community leader is highlighted in a Guide to Local Great Black Men published by Dr. Bruce Wendell Branch and Dr. Renee Allen.  Forty-eight African American men were selected for the inaugural class of leaders based on their professional achievements, good character and commitment to uplifting the African American community.

From the organizers, “Here is a list of African American men who have impacted our community. They are not the only ones and our list is by no means all-inclusive, but we believe it’s time we do something special for special men who are working to make our community in the DMV better for all of us. They are not only role models, but they are examples for young people that their dreams can be fulfilled with hard work and a belief in themselves. Our 48 men of power also includes some special recognition for some individuals upon whose shoulders the other stand and have gone on before us.”

The honors also paid  tribute to legendary heroes, including Rep. John Lewis, Chuck Brown, Dick Gregory, Wayne Curry and Marion Barry.

“I am honored, humbled, and deeply gratified to be included among this inaugural august group of Black men of power and influence in the DMV,” said Mr. Byrd.  “My thanks to Bruce Branch and Dr. Renee Allen who chose me to be included in this group. Many thanks to my wife, Jacquie, a US Air Force veteran, who has been with me every step of the way for 30 years.”

In addition to his time as Director of MBDA at the Department of Commerce, Mr. Byrd’s federal service includes serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office of Policy Development and Research, at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
