From there new concepts are introduced one or two at a time, making each game easy to learn, even as the depth and complexity grow through the book. There are classics like knockout whist, go fish and Liverpool rummy; as well as games less well known in the English-speaking world and six new games designed by the author. Also included are compendium matches that combine several games into one to mix things up and some ideas for short league formats to involve more players than could normally take part in a game or to switch the teams around in partnership games.
One of the nice things about many card games is that they can provide entertainment without preventing conversation. The games in this book have been carefully selected for such social play.
